Biography

R.R. Shakti, PhD

R.R. Shakti, PhD is a mythologist, writer, teacher and founder of Applied Mythology, a body of work devoted to the stories that shape how we live, create and make meaning.

Her inspiration took flight in the Rocky Mountains, where outdoor leadership and work with Outward Bound opened a lifelong inquiry into inner power and ways to live in rhythm with nature. That inquiry has unfolded across more than twenty-five years of study and practice in holistic wellness, yoga, depth psychology and the mythic imagination. She holds a PhD in Mythology and Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and a BA in Traditional Eastern Arts from Naropa University, with particular study in Jungian psychology and contemplative traditions.

Across classrooms, workshops, publications and conversations, her work brings ancient ideas into immediate human questions of identity, creativity and relationship. She invites audiences to recognize the myths already operating beneath the surface of their lives—and to participate more consciously in what comes next.

She is the founder, editor and publisher of Soul Artist Journal, a quarterly publication devoted to creative freedom. Her teaching has reached hundreds of students through programs in mythology, yoga psychology, meditation and contemplative practice. At the center of her work is a simple question:

What story is writing you?
