It's time for Mythic Revolution

Authenticity. Courage. January.

No more feeble resolutions. It is time for REVOLUTION.
It is time to discover your most meaningful–most radically authentic–life.

What does it take to lead an authentic life, you ask?
According to mythic wisdom–from both Eastern and Western traditions–an authentic life requires a courageous heart. It requires you to realize your essential wholeness and to claim the part you play in creating your world.

I know it isn’t easy to reconcile the dissonant beliefs of our social landscape, or to hold the tension of the opposites within your own psyche. The complete yogic path includes trudging through the barren hostility of the current psycho-spiritual schism–a world akin to what poet, T.S. Elliot, called The Waste Land. It is difficult and unnerving. But if you want to recover your individual wholeness—your freedom–you must reconcile the divisive wasteland within. The greatest quest of the modern yogin heeds the call to radical authenticity and psycho-spiritual wholeness.

It is a hero’s quest.

Mythic wisdom invites you to dive deep beneath the surface of your limitation. You must confront the judgements that bind you, and the socially-imposed images of what you “ought” to be. You must illuminate your shadows, own your super-powers, and realize the truth of who you are. Like the exemplars of Arthurian legend, Creation myths, folk tales, and Hindu epics, you are called to traverse the underworld of your psyche. Explore the caverns of your heart. You will be stripped of both the attachment and aversion surrounding your perceived identity. Then, and only then, you will realize something greater. You will come to know yourself in a brave and thoroughly honest way.

It takes courage.
Picture
I am writing this from experience. Every day presents another real-life opportunity for courage. Beyond accepting my sordid past of missteps, I am challenged to embrace the whole truth of this very moment: my soul’s purpose, my marriage and family life, my life’s mission. I have explored the barren wasteland of attachment and aversion again and again. I have discovered that there are no answers–only stories. The way I compose and interpret my personal mythology determines my entire vision. Mythic wisdom provides a map to discover the most fertile ground of my creative power. It gives me the seeds to plant, and the tools to cultivate my own authentic growth.

I’ve been down this road enough to know:
It isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it.

The combined power of World Mythology and Depth Psychology provides a compass for the hero’s journey. It unpacks a treasury of symbol and archetype to empower the human experience and make your life more colorful, more beautiful…more fun. It invites you to discover the middle way path of mystic wisdom. It shows you the multiple roles you play and inspires you to play them to your fullest expression. Contemplative Mythology provides you with glimpses of your own true nature. You realize that all mythic archetypes reside within your Self–your whole Self—which is infinite in possibility and one with everything.

With fundamental integrity, through acceptance of your multi-faceted wholeness, you gain the freedom to live a life that is rich with meaning. You love unconditionally. You create your own destiny. Chaos gives way to a purpose-filled life. Your experience is informed by the choices you make in the face of each new situation. With a courage heart, you become an informed creator of, and participant in, your own adventure.

No more feeble resolutions.

Calling All Angels

Dear Friend,
Tonight is the Moon of the Darkest Night.
December is a month for curious introspection and heart-healing. It is a time for calling all angels and listening to the messages of your soul's wisdom
...for paying special attention to your dream visions.

We celebrated my bio-dad's birthday this month. It was his first birthday since he transitioned to eternity this year. I miss him.

On the night of his birthday, he visited me, in my dreams.
The crux of the vivid imagery went like this:

Dad was exactly where I had last seen him–cozy under covers at my sister's home in Maryland. He was saying goodbye to his life.

I sat beside him on the edge of his bed, as he apologized for the timing of it all. We met less than 5 years ago. We didn't get the luxury of decades.

I was trying to be comforting and wise when I replied: "Well, you know, one can never plan these things."

He looked right at me. The dream felt absolutely real. Simply, but resolutely (like he needed me to hear it) he said: "There are 2 times, in life, when you must plan." Then we hugged and cried, gently rocking together.

I woke up with the bittersweet residue of profound emotion.
I also woke up curious to follow this riddle:

What are these 2 times when planning is so crucial?

Throughout the following days, the question caught up to me again and again. I thought about important life events: choosing a career path, becoming a parent, falling in love.
All of these decisions take planning, and yet there is still so much that remains out of our hands. My life lessons have been chock-full of surrender.

And then, as I was falling into a gentle ritual of reflection–looking back upon the days of this swiftly passing year–it occurred to me:

What if the 2 most crucial times in life are not actually isolated events, but rather the myriad moments throughout each day when you are confronted with two choices:

1. What will you do with this one, amazing, precious life? and...
2. What will you choose NOT to do?

2021 has provided me with another year for clarifying my voice, crystalizing my heart's vision, and organizing plans for follow-through.

An imperative part of the planning process means uttering the sacred sounds, "No," and "Not right now." It also means celebrating every clear and soul-defining "Yes!"

"Yes" came like rainbow glisten on a winter walk the other day, when I heard my mama (my angel) whisper like a prayer:

"The Moons! Don't forget about the moons."
Immediately, I began to revivify one of the most beautiful offerings to come through my doctoral work:
Eleven Moons of Goddess.
This year-long immersion into mystic wisdom, mythic symbols, and Archetypal Psychology has been life-changing for so many people, including myself.

My entire being says "Yes" to another round of moons–this time curated with the current considerations of our cultural climate in mind. It is designed to provide you with concrete action steps to take you from curiosity to completion–to manifest your creative vision.

The time for this work is NOW, like never before.
This complete course is accessible to everyone who joins the Soul Artist Membership. For only $36/month, you will get the entire Eleven Moons of Goddess...and so much more.

On the morning of the Winter Solstice you will receive an interactive e-book (your Soulstice Journal) for inspiration, contemplation, and to set the tone for your upcoming journey. The Eleven Moons odyssey officially begins on New Year's Day. It concludes with the new moon in November when you will receive your final online journal, Book of Treasures, to honor and crystallize your eleven moons of creative completion.

Like you, I will be following the weekly action steps, using the resources of Eleven Moons to guide me as I finish my first published book in 2022. I hope you will be there to inspire and encourage me throughout the process of showing up to my most soulful expression of "Yes!"

What about you?
1. What will you DO with this one, amazing, precious life?
2. What will you choose NOT to do.

It will take some planning to follow through.
Let's make plans, together.

Are You Curious Enough?

Are you curious enough?

The December moon is often called “the moon of the darkest night,” because it falls near the Winter Solstice. Shorter daylight hours mean longer stretches of umbra that invite us into a world of wonder, contemplation, and soul quest.

This is a time for inquiry–for deep curiosity. Treasures untold wait for you in the murky demi-world of your unconscious psyche. The December moon invites you to explore the depths.

It begins with one question: “What don’t I know?”

We are all pretty sure about one thing: our own perspective. So many conversations begin with, “Look here,” or “Listen up,” because “This is where I stand.”

The whole entire enterprise of human engagement becomes a quest to be understood. But standing in that mentality means staying in the dark—denying that there’s another point of view. Relationships become stagnant. Personal growth is stunted. Passion fades.

In the Sci-fi movie, “The Matrix,” a great adventure begins when the hero character, Neo, is given a choice to take a red pill or a blue one.
The blue pill will keep in him safe inside the world he has always known. It will satisfy his ego’s need to be right about his reality. But deep inside, Neo knows that his “reality” is limited by his perspective. The red pill would free him from that limitation.

With the red pill comes a pivotal question:
“Are you curious enough to break through the limitations of your ego perspective?”

Curiosity is magic. It is the super-power spark that ignites the flames of courage, compassion, and creativity. It illuminates the darkness of self-doubt and self-righteousness. It gives you insight to illuminate your own shadows and to embrace the heart-mind of another.
It leads you into a whole new world of deeper understanding, more meaningful relationships, and a cosmic expansion of reality.

Many of us have struggled within the uncertainty of the moment.
If you have been living on planet Earth, you know what I mean: economic inequality, social strife, and environmental catastrophe.
But even in the darkest night, curiosity propels you forward. It calls you to imagine: “What could happen next?”
Curiosity keeps you asking yourself:
“What can I create with this one amazing, miraculous, and wonderful life?”
