Lisa Munger

Picture
Lisa Munger is a writer, yoga instructor and Ayurvedic practitioner. Gentle in being, she embodies the yogic principle of guiding individuals toward their inner teacher.

She has studied and taught yoga for 12 years. She is trained in several styles of yoga, including Ayurvedic, vinyasa, pre-natal, core, power, Yin, restorative, as well as Inner Power Yoga. She will begin to teach internationally in 2012, as Yoga Director in-residence at a festival for contemporary musicians in Italy.

Lisa’s passion for Ayurveda, often called a sister science to yoga, ignited more than 10 years ago. Ayurveda teaches us to find balance in our minds and bodies, attuning to our natural rhythms through lifestyle, movement (including yoga) and by using food as our best medicine. She has trained in Ayurveda at the Ayurvedic Institute, under her primary teacher Dr. Vasant Lad, and the Wise Earth School. She brings a unique approach to the ancient discipline, marrying its ancient concepts with a down-to-earth understanding that allows practitioners to integrate Ayurveda into their lives simple, practical ways.

Besides her training in yoga, Pilates, barre work and Ayurveda, Lisa also holds a master’s degree in journalism. A native Nebraskan, Lisa also writes for magazines, websites and newspapers, about topics ranging from yoga to international affairs, derived from her travels to Egypt, Qatar, Bolivia and beyond.

Lisa and her husband Greg Oakes live in Des Moines, Iowa, where she owns Connect Yoga & Wellness, a yoga, Pilates, barre and Ayurveda center.
